What to Expect During Your Free Retirement Blueprint Review

What to Expect During Your Free Retirement Blueprint Review
Scheduling a retirement conversation can feel like a bigger commitment than it really is. You may wonder what information you need, whether you will be pressured to move an account, or whether the meeting is simply a sales presentation.
FortiGuard’s complimentary Retirement Blueprint process is designed to begin with understanding. The purpose is to organize your retirement picture, answer useful questions and help you see how the pieces may work together before discussing whether anything should change.
Is the Retirement Blueprint really free?
Yes. The intake call, Blueprint presentation and personalized report are complimentary. All meetings are conducted privately through Google Meet.
There is no requirement to roll over an account, transfer assets or purchase a product. If further planning may be useful, you can decide whether you want another conversation after reviewing the Blueprint.
Step 1: Complete the short questionnaire
Before scheduling, you will answer a few questions about your retirement situation and priorities. This gives the FortiGuard team enough context to make the first conversation more useful.
The questionnaire may ask about:
- Your expected retirement timeframe
- Current employment and approximate income
- Pensions or employer benefits
- 401(k), 403(b), 457(b), TSP, IRA or other retirement accounts
- The age at which you expect to retire
- Questions or concerns you want to discuss
Approximate figures are acceptable for the initial conversation. Do not submit Social Security numbers, driver’s-license information, complete account numbers, passwords or login credentials.
Step 2: Attend the intake call
The first Google Meet is a conversation about you—not a presentation about a product.
We discuss your income, household situation, retirement goals, existing benefits and the decisions on your mind. Examples might include:
- When can I reasonably retire?
- How much monthly income might I have?
- How does my pension coordinate with Social Security?
- What role should my retirement accounts play?
- Could my spouse maintain sufficient income if I die first?
- Is an old workplace account still serving its intended purpose?
The conversation helps identify what the Blueprint should illustrate and which assumptions need to be clarified.
Step 3: FortiGuard prepares your Blueprint
After the intake meeting, FortiGuard organizes the available information into a visual Genesis Retirement Blueprint. Depending on your situation and the information available, the report may include:
- Retirement-income sources
- Pension and Social Security timing
- Retirement-account values
- Estimated income across different years
- Survivor-income considerations
- Planning strengths and potential gaps
- Questions or decisions that deserve further review
The Blueprint is an educational planning report. It is not an official pension calculation, tax return, legal document or guarantee of future results.
Step 4: Review the Blueprint together
The second Google Meet is typically scheduled for the following week. During that meeting, FortiGuard presents the report page by page, explains the assumptions and answers your questions.
The goal is not merely to show numbers. It is to help you understand how the income sources and accounts connect, which decisions matter most, and where additional information may be needed.
After the presentation, FortiGuard emails your complimentary Blueprint so you can review it again on your own.
Step 5: Decide whether another conversation is useful
Some clients receive the Blueprint and have the clarity they needed. Others identify a pension election, income gap, insurance need or retirement account that deserves a closer review.
If additional planning is appropriate—or if you have potential assets that may need to be moved—a third meeting can be scheduled. That meeting is still a conversation, not an obligation. Any recommendation should be evaluated on its individual benefits, limitations, costs and alternatives.
What should you have available?
You do not need perfect records to begin. Helpful information may include:
- A recent pension estimate, if applicable
- A current Social Security estimate
- Recent retirement-account statements
- Approximate household income
- Expected retirement date
- Estimated monthly retirement spending
- Information about employer or retiree health coverage
- Questions you want answered
Official estimates and recent statements make the Blueprint more useful, but sensitive identification and login information should not be shared.
What FortiGuard will not ask for during the complimentary process
FortiGuard will not ask you to provide:
- Your Social Security number
- Driver’s-license information
- Account usernames or passwords
- Full account numbers through the website questionnaire
- Payment for the calls or Blueprint report
If you later choose to complete a separate financial application or transaction, required information would be handled through the applicable secure, authorized process—not through the complimentary website questionnaire.
Who can benefit from a Blueprint review?
The process may be helpful if you are:
- Approaching retirement
- Changing employers
- Trying to understand a pension
- Managing several old retirement accounts
- Unsure when to begin Social Security
- Concerned about retirement income lasting
- Planning for a spouse or other survivor
- Looking for a clearer picture before making decisions
FortiGuard has particular experience working with educators and pension systems, including Pennsylvania PSERS, while also serving families and professionals across a broad range of licensed states.
Start with clarity
Your first step is a conversation—not a financial commitment.
Complete the short questionnaire, select a convenient Google Meet time and tell FortiGuard what you want your retirement plan to clarify.

How long does the process take?
The process normally includes an intake call followed by a Blueprint presentation the next week. A third call is scheduled only when further discussion would be useful.
Are the meetings in person?
No. FortiGuard’s meetings are conducted virtually through Google Meet, allowing clients to participate from a private and convenient location.
Do I have to move my retirement account?
No. A rollover is not appropriate in every situation, and the complimentary review does not require one. The purpose is to understand the complete retirement picture before considering any change.
Will my Blueprint show exact future results?
No. The report uses the information and assumptions available at the time. Projections are hypothetical, can change and do not guarantee future income or investment results.
Can my spouse attend?
Yes. Retirement decisions often affect both members of a household, so a spouse or partner is welcome to participate.
